Best for 5’1″-5’7″ riders. I repainted this indestructible, but badly rusted Hardrock CroMoly steel frame into a cool new color with new logos. This bike is rebuilt with all modern VG Sports components, including 1×10 drivetrain with 34T narrow/wide chainring and 1-36T cassette. Beefed-up 26″ mountain wheels with new Specialized Crossroad tires can be used on paved roads and off-road.
It was sad to see the beautiful turquoise 1993 Specialized Hardrock frame pitted and rusted, and I repainted it. It took many hours to de-rust the frame inside and out, remove the old paint, prepare all surfaces for painting, apply several layers of paint, wait for it to settle, and then apply several layers of clear coat. This frame and its color is one of a kind.
The new colors are fresh, calm, friendly, and happy combination of Coral frame and Turquoise logos/components. Coral is named after marine invertebrates decorating sea floor. It is extraordinary bright, invigorating and looks very different based on the light: from fluorescent orange in the dark to pink salmon under sunshine. It looks different even based based on the background. It is so bright that it makes surrounding colors look different. That is why it is nearly impossible to depict that on photos. Turquoise is my tribute to the original color Specialized chose for their 1993 Hardrock – it is a mix of green, pale blue and yellow. It takes its name from the gemstone and derives from the French word for Turkish.
