The 1993 Specialized Epic is a premium road/triathlon racing bike. Best for 5’2″-5’7″ riders. It is highly regarded as a milestone bicycle because it represents the “Carbon Dawn” era of cycling history. Unlike modern one-piece carbon fiber frames, the 1993 Epic used a unique transitional, multi-material design that blended classic frame building with cutting-edge composite materials.

The standout feature of this bike is its lugged carbon fiber construction. Specialized utilized Direct Drive carbon fiber tubes, bonded into elegant aluminum lugs with heavy-duty epoxy. This design replicates the smooth, dampened, resilient ride quality of a traditional steel frame, with the added stiffness and lightness of carbon. Fully built, this bike weighs under 21 lbs. Original lugged carbon tubes painted in ruby red/black. I got this bike with an EMS composite fork, Cinelli stem, Cinelli handlebars, and a single-speed cog. I restored it to its original glory with a full Shimano 105 STI drivetrain, Shimano RX100 wheels, and new Shimano components, including a HollowTech bottom bracket, a modern Tiagra crankset, an 11-28T cassette, and a freewheel body. it rides like a dream.
