1971 Coppi by Fiorelli

This handsome vintage racing bike was designed by the great Fausto Coppi, Italian “Campionissimo” – the Champion of Champions. Coppi bikes were manufactured by Fiorelli from 1954 until the 1980s.

Writing on the original seatpost badge in Italian: Coppi. La biciclette che detiene il Record Mondiale dell’ora: km. 48,667.
Fabbric.dalla Moto Velo FIORELLI Novi Ligure. Direct translation: Coppi. The bicycle that holds the World Hour Record: 48.667 km. Manufactured by Moto Velo FIORELLI, Novi Ligure.

The components of this bike are comparable to those of the 1969-1971 Bianchi Rekord. Lugged steel tubes, 10-speed Campagnolo drivetrain. The original 27″ tubular wheels, 5-speed cassette, and rusted spokes we replaced with 27″ Araya clincher wheels, 7-speed cassette, and stainless spokes. To fit the newer 125mm wide rear hub into the existing 120mm wide chainstay opening, I used the Park Tool FFG-2 frame and fork alignment set. The matching decals are made by bicycledecals.net, and delivered to the USA from England in about 10 days.

I restored this bike for John.
